Two come to mind. One, Dorcas in the Bible and how God filled her with love for others and a desire to help them. I wanted to be used by God like that and I think that was my first desire to serve. Another would be Chuck Swindoll. I remember reading Living on the Ragged Edge as a young mother and it helped me to clearly see how meaningless things were and how God doesn't want us to be too content with this world because it's not our home. And more recently his book What's So Amazing About Grace. It reinforced again God's love for us inspite of how undeserving we are of it.
